Third outside reading: Film review

HSM 3, High School Musical 3, everyone’s talking! Teen heartthrob Zac Efron stars as Troy, alongside Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) in the third High School Musical, surprise, surprise. Senior Year' focuses on the struggles of being a senior while juggling a girlfriend, the musical and a potential Stanford basketball scholarship. Troy’s dad is pressuring him to pursue sports at his hometown alma mater, but Juilliard beckons with a performing arts scholarship. The only way to resolve these conflicts is with nonstop songs and dance.  If you’re yearning for some good old fashioned fun go and see High School Musical!

I would like to start off by saying this movie was a lot better with a good dose of sleep deprivation and late at night. I thought some parts of this movie were very good like the choreography and the play were amazing. However, I thought the plot line was hectic and the burst-into-random-singing was not great. I'm not a huge fan of High School Musical but, for the trilogy, this one wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The dancing was great and the acting was good but the plot left something to be desired.

I think the movie was so fun! Granted, you had to walk into the theater knowing the plot would be cheesy and it wouldn't be winning any Academy Awards. With that aside, you also have to immerse yourself in the tackiness. Once this is achieved, the movie is wonderful! In my opinion, the singing, dancing, and acting were way better than in the original and the sequel. It is the dream of almost every girl to have life be like a musical where people randomly break into song and dance. If one is able to achieve the right mindset before walking into the theater, the movie makes the plot come to life with fun songs and dances.

I think no matter how corny the High School Musical Series gets, there will still always be that group of girls who goes nuts for it. Because, yeah, the movies might get worse but as long as Zach Efron still stars in them, people will continue buying the movie tickets. This is something I think Hollywood is starting to realize because Zach has just scored a role in Pirates of the Caaribean 4. Lastly I would like to say eventhough I do not like HSM3 myself, there are some good messages and themes conveyed about making choices in life. All in all, the movies might be bad, but our society still benefits because younger kids are learning important lessons that are hidden through all the choreography and plot of High School Musical 3.
